Met betrekking tot zonnestelsels met vijf planten is een belangrijke ontdekking gedaan, een zekere regelmaat die altijd opgaat. Waarom die regelmaat er is mag dan ook een groot zwart gat in onze inzichten worden genoemd. Die regelmaat wordt in onderstaande tabel getoond.
Er zijn 10 verschijnselen die het aanzien van de planeten in combinatie met elkaar bepalen, zeg maar: waarmee de planeet zich manifesteert.. Het voert in dit verband te ver om de inhoud van die verschijnselen hier te benoemen en uit te leggen (ikzelf kan er geen vat op krijgen) maar hieronder volgen de codes waarmee deze verschijnselen geïdentificeerd worden.

Die verschijnselen doen zich voor in diverse combinaties, nooit meer dan vijf (ook een vraag waarop het antwoord nog niet gevonden is). Die verschijnselen doen zich voor in een keten, met duidelijke onderscheiding van het wisselmoment – denk maar aan gradientation. (Een idee is dat entropie een rol zou kunnen spelen.)
Die keten wordt steeds herhaald.
Welnu, wat blijkt, de wijze waarop die kenmerken in de keten zijn opgenomen bepalen voor een zonnestelsel de plaats van één specifieke planeet in de volgorde van de planeten. (Dit werd toevallig ontdekt, als bijkomend resultaat van een onderzoek dat niet gericht was op de plaatsing van de planeten.)
In de nu volgende tabel wordt dat zichtbaar gemaakt: de verschijnselen van de planeten waarvan de plaats aan die regel voldoet, en dus ook voorspelbaar is, zijn bold gezet.
Deze inzichten zijn nog niet publiek bekend gemaakt, er zijn nog teveel vragen - zoals: waarom geldt dit maar voor één planeet - maar als verwoed modellenontmaskeraar kreeg ik van een bevriende astronoom onderstaande tabel in handen, met als uitdaging: bepaal van welke planeet de volgorde “gepredestineerd” was. Ik moet, na substantiële denktijd – bij een potje schaken zou mijn vlag al lang en breed gevallen zijn – erkennen: ik heb er (nog) geen speld tussen kunnen gekregen, tegelijkertijd heb ik het raadsel voor het laatst ontdekte zonnestelsel nog niet kunnen oplossen.
Dat lijkt mij nou een passende uitdaging voor mijn “vrienden” van climate modelling. Die suggereren zoveel van het klimaat te begrijpen sinds ze Bayes in hun armen hebben gesloten, dat deze vraag voor hen een eitje moet zijn.
